Privacy Policy — Volt Monitor

Last updated: September 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how J7Software (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the Volt Monitor Android application (package name: com.j7software.voltmonitor), available on Google Play.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the app.

2. What Data the App Collects

Volt Monitor is designed around a principle of data honesty: it only displays values it can actually read from your device, and it stores as little as possible.

2.1 Battery data (read directly from your device)

The app reads the following values from Android’s system battery APIs whenever your battery status changes:

This data is used only to display live battery information, calculate charging/discharging estimates, detect charging sessions, and (optionally) show historical charts.

2.2 Optional background history

If you enable “Record in background” in the History screen, the app stores battery samples locally on your device in a local database (Room/SQLite). This data:

2.3 Device diagnostics

The Settings screen shows technical information about your device (model, manufacturer, Android version, screen resolution, app version) for your own reference. This information is read live and displayed only within the app — it is not transmitted anywhere by us.

2.4 Data we deliberately do NOT collect or guess

Consistent with our data-honesty principle, the app never invents or estimates values it cannot measure, including:

2.5 Information we do not access at all

Volt Monitor does not request or access your location, contacts, photos, files, microphone, camera, or any other sensitive personal data.

2.6 Backup and restore (Pro feature)

Volt Monitor Pro lets you export your locally stored history and measured capacity data to a single file, and import it back later (for example, after reinstalling the app or moving to a new phone). This feature:

3. Third-Party Services

To keep the app free, and to offer an optional paid upgrade, Volt Monitor integrates the following third-party services. These services operate under their own privacy policies and may independently collect and process certain technical data (such as advertising identifiers) in accordance with their own terms:

3.1 Google AdMob (advertising)

The free version of the app displays “App Open” ads provided by Google AdMob when you return to the app from the background. AdMob may collect device identifiers and other technical data to serve and measure ads. Learn more: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Ads are not shown:

3.2 Google Play Billing (in-app purchase)

If you choose to purchase “Volt Monitor Pro” (a one-time, non-consumable purchase), the transaction is processed entirely by Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment details. Purchase status is verified directly with Google Play; a small local cache is kept only so the app can start up quickly and show your correct purchase status.

3.3 Google User Messaging Platform (UMP)

We use Google’s UMP SDK to obtain your consent for personalized/non-personalized advertising where required by law (see Section 4).

Each of the above services is operated by Google LLC and is subject to Google’s own Privacy Policy.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the app will show a consent form (via Google’s UMP SDK) before requesting any ads, asking for your consent to the use of cookies/local storage and personal data for advertising purposes, in line with the GDPR and the EU ePrivacy Directive.

You can review or change your consent choices at any time from within the app: Settings → Permissions & Privacy → Manage ad consent.

5. Permissions Used by the App

Permission Purpose
Foreground service Required to run the optional background logging service
Foreground service (special use) Allows the background logging service to run continuously
Post notifications Shows a persistent notification while background logging is active, and alerts about battery issues
Receive boot completed Restarts background logging after you restart your device, if it was previously enabled
Internet Required by the advertising and billing SDKs
Access network state Required by the advertising SDK
Ignore battery optimizations (optional, requested only if you tap the corresponding button in the app) Lets you optionally exempt the app from your device's battery optimization, so background logging is less likely to be stopped by the system on phones with aggressive battery management

The app does not request any dangerous or sensitive Android permissions (location, contacts, storage, camera, microphone, etc.).

6. Data Retention and Deletion

7. Children’s Privacy

Volt Monitor is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The app does not include any child-directed content or functionality.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. under the GDPR if you are in the EEA/UK), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. Because Volt Monitor stores your battery/history data only locally on your device, you can exercise most of these rights yourself directly in the app (disabling logging, clearing data, or uninstalling). For questions about data processed by third-party services (Google AdMob, Google Play Billing), please also refer to Google’s own privacy resources, or contact us and we will assist where we can.

To contact us about any privacy matter, email: j7software@post.cz

9. International Data Transfers

Where third-party services (Google AdMob, Google Play Billing, Google UMP) process data on our behalf, that data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own, including the United States, under Google’s own safeguards and policies.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new app features or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will indicate when changes were last made. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
